Another beauty in the Kildare golfing countryside. While the K Club has put Co. Kildare on the International Golfing map as host of the 2006 Ryder Cup...

PGA National 3rd Green...the PGA National is going to ensure that Kildare remains a "must play" destination for golfers across the globe. The PGA National can be found in the unique setting of Palmerstown House which was a famous old stud farm. It comprises of 800 acres of magnificent countryside including forests of wonderful woodlands, sparkling lakes and undulating meadows. It oozes character and charm and has quickly become a golfers paradise.

The PGA National as Palmerstown House has been honoured with the decision of the PGA to call it the PGA National Ireland and indeed base their official Irish Headquarters there. This puts it on an equal footing as Gleneagles & the Belfry which is testament to the high quality of the venue.

The course itself gives golfers a feeling of tradition, excellence and quality, it comprises of lush fairways, immaculately manicured greens dotted amongst the forests, lakes and streams.

It would be hard to pick out an individual hole for special accolades as each gives its own interpretation on the art of golf course design.

13 of the 18 holes feature water which means that the PGA National is not for the faint hearted. Each hole gives a sense of serenity and quietness and not one is overlooked by another as you slowly meander your way around the 7419 yard Par 72 course.

Play the PGA National and you must play it again, each hole is a classic including the Par 4 4th hole which tests your power and accuracy on both the drive and approach to the forbidding Island Green. The 6th and the 9th Holes have been given Index 1 & 3 respectively and constitute great opportunities for scoring, for they are both Par 5’s. With a little careful management there can be birdie chances for the daring golfer.

If you manage to arrive at the 18th unscathed you will be both tired and exhilarated from the course, take your time with the tee shot and enjoy the walk back towards the impressive clubhouse where you can enjoy the best in golfing hospitality, facilities and cuisine.

Play the PGA National, you simply must.
