Knightsbrook Hotel Spa and Golf Resort Golf Club

Club of the Month Archive

Situated in Trim, Co. Meath, a designated heritage town, famous for its Norman Castle, Knightsbrook Hotel Spa & Golf Resort boasts an 18 hole championship course designed by former Ryder Cup Legend Christy O'Connor Jnr.

A challenging and creative course you will enjoy views over undulation fairways and testing greens and be intrigued by demanding water features. Knightsbrook has already established itself as one of the premier golf resorts in Ireland and will host the Junior Solheim Cup in 2011 & is only 26 miles from Dublin City Centre.

Knightsbrook 18th

Christy O’Connor Jnr. has re-invented himself successfully by producing some marvellous golf courses in Ireland (& indeed Europe), and he certainly has not disappointed when it came Knightsbrook turn.

It is named after the Knightsbrook river, which is a feature of the course, and the course meananders its way around 186 acres of rolling parkland in the Co. Meath countryside.

As is a signature on many of his courses, Christy O’Connor Junior has incorporated the Knightsbrook river and 9 lakes combining to make a challenging Par 72, 7200 yard golf course that golfers of every standard will enjoy.

As with most great courses, Knightsbrook gets you into an early rhythm & steadily puts more and more challenging features in to the holes culminating with an exciting back 9, with some of the strongest, challenging holes that you will ever experience.

The business part of the course starts on the 14th hole which is a 444 yards dogleg, with water to be avoided off the tee and positioning key to having a chance of hitting the well protected green, you will barely have time to draw breath before the Par 4 15th which will either make or break your day! This is risk & reward at its best. A tough long drive over water to a protected fairway, is the only way that you will make this green in two, the green is island-esque and many have succumbed to a watery grave here. Two Par 3’s in the final 3, sandwich a beautiful Par 5 alongside a lake and stream means that you will have deserved your rest when you get back to the luxurious clubhouse and hotel.

Play the Knightsbrook Hotel & Golf Resort – You simply must!
