Mount Juliet Golf Club

Club of the Month Archive

Mount Juliet, as grand as the name suggests, is luxurious sporting country estate that leaves nothing to chance...

One of the last great historic estates in Europe crowned with an architecturally fascinating Georgian Country House, it provides for an oasis of calm in the rolling Kilkenny countryside.

Mount Juliet

There are many reasons to visit Mount Juliet including the World renowned Ballylinch Equestrian Centre but the jewel in that crown is the Jack Nicklaus signature golf course which has had a short but illustrious history with such players as Ernie Els, Tiger Woods, Freddie Couples, Padraig Harrington gracing the fairways during some of the many PGA tournaments  held here over the years.

Mount Juliet

Mount Juliet has been host to the Carrolls Irish Open 1993, Murphys Irish Open 1994, 1995, the World Golf Championships in 2002 & 2004 win by Ernie Els and Tiger Woods respectively.

Like many great golf courses, Mount Juliet can lull you into a false sense of security on the 1st hole, a gentle opening Par 4, that breaks you in gently for the treat in store.

Walking down the second hole, you begin to lose yourself in the quietness and nature of the course, it is immaculately well kept and offers breathtaking views of the local countryside.

The mature trees are a treat (as long as your ball is not in them) and the brown trout in the streams and can provide quite a distraction too.

The course is cleverly designed and makes best use of the land, the trees, the hills and the streams, no fairway is overlooked as you meander through the beautiful estate.

Whilst having many PGA  events in its resume, Mount Juliet is sponsoring the Irish PGA “Race to Mount Juliet”, modelled on the European Tours Race to Dubai, only for our home grown Irish Pro’s.

This is a major boost for the Irish PGA tournament circuit, three major brands, together with the Irish PGA have added an exciting initiative to the golfing calendar. The Lexus Race to Mount Juliet in association with Ping will see the Irish Order of Merit decided in a finale involving a Pro Am and one day Pro only event at Mount Juliet in October 15th and 16th 2010.

Mount Juliet

The winner of the Order of "The Lexus Race to Mount Juliet in association with Ping" will receive a €10K bonus, a place in the following seasons PGA Championship at Wentworth and a place in the starting line up at the 3 Irish Open.

The investment in Irish Golf that Mount Juliet are making can only contribute to the fantastic profile that our country’s golfers have in the world currently.

Play Mount Juliet, you simply must.

Mount Juliet is the Greengolfball, Golf Club of the Month for August 2010.
